Trump taps Lewandowski, Bossie for Commission on Presidential Scholars

President Trump on Thursday tapped two staunch allies and former campaign advisers to serve on the Commission of Presidential Scholars.

The White House announced in a release that Trump would appoint Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie to serve among the commissioners who select the annual Presidential Scholars.

“Commissioners are selected from across the country, representing the fields of education, medicine, law, social services, business, and other professions,” according to the commission’s website.

Lewandowski served as Trump’s first campaign chairman during the 2016 campaign before he was ousted and eventually replaced by Kellyanne Conway and campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Bossie worked as a deputy campaign manager for Trump during the 2016 race.

Both men have remained fierce supporters of the president during his time in office, though neither has held a job in the White House. They co-authored a book in 2017 called “Let Trump Be Trump” that was highly complimentary of the president, and wrote another book in 2018 titled “Trump’s Enemies” that targeted the so-called “deep state.”

Lewandowski and Bossie reportedly met with Trump last month to warn him that his reelection prospects had taken a downturn.
