President Trump is running next-and-neck with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in the latest Hill-HarrisX poll.
Forty-two percent of those polled say they would back Biden while 40 percent back Trump in the new poll.
Five percent said they prefer to vote for someone else, 4 percent said they do not plan to vote and 9 percent remain uncertain.
The findings were consistent with other recent Hill-HarrisX polls of Trump and Biden, though the poll did find notable shifts within age groups.
The former vice president has increased his support among voters 65 and older by 9 percentage points since the last Hill-HarrisX survey and is now leading Trump among this group by 2 percentage points, with 47 percent supporting Biden in the general election match up and 45 percent supporting Trump.
But Biden saw his support fall among voters between the ages of 18 and 34 by 11 percentage points, from 50 percent on May 6 to 39 percent in the May 13-14 survey. Trump saw a 6 percentage point increase in support among this age group.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 950 registered voters between May 13 and 14. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.18 percentage points.
