NBA players to be allowed to return to training facilities on Friday: report

NBA players will be allowed to return to their teams’ training facilities on Friday if their local governments do not have stay-at-home orders in place prohibiting travel amid the coronavirus pandemic, The Associated Press reported on Sunday. 

Group practices would not be allowed yet, however, and teams will not be allowed to organize in-person workouts, the AP noted.   

Workouts would be voluntary and limited to individual sessions, a person familiar with the league’s decision told the news service on Saturday. 

The NBA will work to find “alternative arrangements” for teams in cities where stay-at-home orders are still in place prohibiting players from traveling, the source added. 

The NBA suspended its 2020 season last month after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for COVID-19. 

Teams were ordered to shut their facilities shortly after the season was suspended.

Across the U.S., more than 941,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported along with 54,024 deaths, based on data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
