A contestant on “Jeopardy!” has gone viral for her incorrect response regarding which Major League Baseball player broke the sport’s color barrier.

“One of the topics covered in the Major League Baseball course at Arizona State is this player who broke the color barrier in 1947,” was the $1,000 Jeopardy answer offered by longtime host Alex Trebek during the semifinals of the show’s College Tournament.

“Who is Babe Ruth?” replied Xiaoke Ying, a sophomore at the University of Southern California.

“No,” Trebek said.

Yale sophomore Nathaniel Miller then buzzed in with the correct response: “Who is Jackie Robinson?”

The error occurred on “Jeopardy’s” April 15 broadcast, which is recognized by Major League Baseball as Jackie Robinson Day. The video has been viewed more than 550,000 times.

But the incorrect response didn’t cost Ying in the long run. She went on to win, advancing to the finals.

Trebek continues to host the popular show 15 months after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He announced earlier this week that he is releasing a memoir in July titled “The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life.”
