Iconic NY Post sports photographer Anthony Causi dies of coronavirus: ‘Universally loved’

Award-winning New York Post photographer Anthony Causi died Sunday from the novel coronavirus at age 48, prompting an outpouring of condolences from figures across the sports media world.

“Anthony Causi was our colleague, our friend, and a brilliant journalist,” said Stephen Lynch, New York Post editor-in-chief, which is owned by News Corp. “He was, quite simply, one of the best sports photographers in New York City, capturing all the major moments of the past 25 years. Soft-spoken, funny, but most of all kind — he was respected by those he photographed and admired by those with whom he worked.”

Causi is survived by his wife and two young children, as well as his parents and two sisters.

The death toll from COVID-19 in New York state stands at 9,395, with the overall death toll in the U.S. at 22,056.
