Rick Perry asks for elastic donations for his mom, 91, who is sewing face masks
Former Energy Secretary Rick Perry solicited online donations for his 91-year-old mother to help her sew face masks amid the coronavirus crisis.
“My 91 y.o. Mother has been making face mask for the health care workers in her area (over a hundred),” Perry, who is also the former governor of Texas, wrote on Instagram. “BTW she has run out of 1/4” elastic and there is none to be found. If you have any stashed away send to A. Perry 6230 FM 618 Haskell,TX 79521.”
The plea comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that Americans wear homemade masks or face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure,” the CDC wrote in its guidance.
