MyPillow to manufacture masks for hospitals amid coronavirus

A pillow manufacturing company whose CEO is a prominent Trump supporter said Tuesday it is making protective face masks for hospitals across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The products are not for sale to the general public, MyPillow said.

MyPillow inventor and CEO Mike Lindell, who has floated running for governor of Minnesota, is a vocal fan of President Trump. He said last year that the former real estate mogul was “chosen by God” to run against 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Officials across the country, especially in states hit hardest by the coronavirus, have warned that hospital supplies, including personal protective equipment, are depleting as the virus rapidly spreads.

Private companies and groups, from fashion designer Christian Siriano to Pornhub, have offered to create and donate masks to hospitals and first responders in need of the critical supplies.

There are more than 458,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases globally and 62,000 cases in the U.S., according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
