Lobbying world

 • Fulcrum Public Affairs added Margaret Franklin as vice president and Miya Patel as director. Franklin was the legislative director to Rep. Al Lawson (D-Fla.) and before that worked for Rep. Alma Adams (D-N.C.) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.). Patel was counsel to Rep. Joseph Neguse (D-Colo.) and previously was counsel to ex-Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.) and a senior analyst at Goldman Sachs.

• The American Gaming Association added RaShawn Mitchell as senior director of government relations. He was previously deputy chief of staff and legislative director for Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-S.C.). Before that he served in the Obama administration at NASA headquarters and at the Office of Management and Budget. 

• The McManus Group added Alanna Temme as executive vice president. She most recently was executive director of Celgene Corporation and before that was a legislative assistant to former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

• Nashville-based lobbying firm McMahan Winstead & Richardson announced the opening of a new branch in Washington, D.C. The firm’s senior principal, David McMahan, will share duties in Washington, along with two other partners. He previously was a Senate page and an aide to ex-Sen. Howard Baker (R-Tenn.).

• Steptoe & Johnson LLP added Joe Corrigan and Mike Williams as managing director and senior government affairs adviser, respectively. Corrigan previously was the Army’s key point person on Capitol Hill for base realignment and closure, military construction, land conveyances and Army leasing programs. Williams previously worked in the Virginia House of Delegates.

• Alston & Bird added Jason Levine as a partner and Shawna Tunnell as a tax partner. Levine joins from Vinson & Elkins LLP, where he was a partner, and Tunnel joins from Hogan Lovells, where she was also a partner.

• Heather Nauert, former spokeswoman for the State Department and onetime Fox News Channel anchor, has joined BGR Group’s advisory board.

• Kimberly Breier, former assistant secretary of State for Western Hemisphere affairs, joined Covington as a senior adviser.
