CBS hires CNN tech reporter for Quibi
Former CNN tech correspondent Laurie Segall has been named a correspondent for the new CBS News program “60 in 6,” the new “60 Minutes”-Quibi streaming initiative, the program announced on Thursday.
Quibi is a new streaming video offering that creates short-form entertainment for mobile audiences.
“We’re in a really fascinating moment in tech and I think it’s important that we ask questions that don’t have easy answers. I couldn’t be more excited to explore some of these stories with the 60 MINUTES team,” Segall said in the announcement.
“As someone who has covered technology for most of my career, I’m excited to be combining world-class journalism with an emerging platform like Quibi.”
“60 in 6” is scheduled to launch in April on Quibi.
Segall, 34, was CNN’s senior technology correspondent and the editor-at-large for CNN Tech.
“Laurie gives us an instant advantage on one of the most important beats of our time,” said “60 Minutes” Executive Producer Bill Owens. “She is a font of ideas and brings a unique voice and experience to ’60 in 6′ and ‘CBS News.’ ”
The announcement of Segall joining “60 in 6” comes one day after the program announced it signed former CNN contributor and Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery.
