Watch: Biden delivers remarks after Trump assassination attempt
President Biden is set to deliver remarks on Sunday, a day after the shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pa., that left one person killed and two others critically injured.
Biden addressed the nation briefly Saturday night, saying of the shooting that “everybody must condemn it.”
Former President Trump thanked the nation on Sunday morning for its concern in the wake of an attempt on his life the evening before. Republicans and Democrats alike have spoken out about the shooting, including calls for turning down the temperature of political rhetoric.
Overnight, the FBI named the suspect in the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pa., but offered no other details. Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., was involved.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) identified the victim who died at the Trump rally as Corey Comperatore, during a press conference on Sunday.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the FBI said. And authorities were at his home early Sunday.
Remarks are set to begin at 1:30 EDT.
