Pa. State Dem Party chair endorses Specter

The chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has endorsed Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in his primary contest against Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.). Specter is seeking to keep his Senate seat in 2010 after switching parties in April.

Specter’s campaign announced on Monday that chairman T.J. Rooney and Democratic State Party Treasurer Ann Bursis have endorsed the former Republican and joined his campaign’s advisory committee. Reps. Chaka Fattah and Tim Holden also backed Specter and joined the committee.

“I am very pleased to accept the endorsement and assistance of these fine officials as I go through the process of earning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate,” Specter said in a release.
