At least 30 people were killed by an improvised explosive device in Nigeria on Monday, Reuters reported

The bomb allegedly detonated on a bridge at about 5 p.m. local time in the market town of Gamboru in the northeastern state of Borno. Witnesses said more than 35 injured people were taken to the local hospital.

“It is an unfortunate day for us to witness this frustrating and devastating incident in our community,” witness Modu Ali Said told Reuters.

A military spokesperson told the news wire that he would comment later in the evening.

Two sources from the Civilian Joint Task Force, a group formulated to combat Boko Haram, confirmed the blast. Neither Boko Haram nor the regional branch of ISIS, called ISWAP, took immediate responsibility for the strike.
