Goldman Sachs employees are protesting a Wednesday event featuring former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley after her remarks about the Confederate flag.

Employees, including the company’s Black Network, have contacted Goldman President John Waldron asking for the cancellation of the event where Waldron will interview Haley, following the ambassador’s comments last week, Bloomberg reported

The event, scheduled to take place at Goldman’s New York offices, is a part of “Talks at GS” where company executives interview prominent people who are not paid.

The former ambassador and former South Carolina governor told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that Dylann Roof, the shooter in the 2015 Charleston attack that left nine black Americans dead, “hijacked” the meaning of the Confederate flag. Haley said before the shooting, people saw the flag as a symbol for “service and sacrifice and heritage.”

Goldman officials have answered employees’ concerns by saying they have tough questions on the subject planned for Haley.

“We are committed to using the ‘Talks at GS’ platform to directly explore the views of our guests, particularly on difficult topics,” the company wrote in an email to concerned employees, confirmed by a spokeswoman to Bloomberg. “John Waldron will ask Ambassador Haley to address her recent comments on the Confederate flag and will share the sentiments of you and others in our community.”

The Hill has reached out to Goldman for comment.

Haley is currently touring to promote her book “With All Due Respect” and spoke at a Wells Fargo event last week before the comments surfaced, according to Bloomberg.
