Balch & Bingham announced Brian Rell will lead the firm’s federal public policy and government relations practice, effective Nov. 1. Rell was Rep. Robert Aderholt’s (R-Ala.) chief of staff for 11 years. He also managed state government affairs for McKenna, Long & Aldridge and was a director at Metromedia Fiber Networks.

{mosads}Jennifer Nord Mallard, director of federal government affairs at the Mayo Clinic, will join the Vogel Group. Mallard has been at Mayo for nine years and before that was senior associate director at the American Hospital Association for over 10 years.

Josh Martin, chief of staff to Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) for 10 years, will be vice president of government affairs at American Defense International. Martin was Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-N.C.) health policy director for 11 years before working for Thornberry. 

Bethany Aronhalt joined the communications team at the American Petroleum Institute. Aronhalt was previously senior director of media relations at the National Retail Federation for two years and before that she was press secretary for the House Education and Workforce Committee for over a year.

Clark Hill announced that William Sjoberg has joined the firm as a member in its international trade law practice. He previously was a partner at Porter Wright and before that was an import compliance specialist in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance.
