Organizers delay award for Plácido Domingo amid sexual harassment allegations
An award ceremony for Plácido Domingo, who faces multiple sexual harassment allegations, has been delayed, organizers said Thursday.
The Associated Press reported that European Cultural Forum officials said Domingo will receive the award next year at a ceremony in Bonn, Germany, instead of this weekend in Vienna.
{mosads}Officials reportedly did not give a reason for the delay. This year’s culture award winners also include Italian actress Sophia Loren and British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
The AP noted that this was the first change to Domingo’s European schedule since the accusations surfaced, adding that his U.S. appearances have been canceled.
Domingo is reportedly slated to appear Thursday in Moscow, which would be his fourth performance in Europe since the allegations surfaced.
The AP reported earlier this year sexual harassment accusations against the singer from nine women.
