Corzine campaign tweets Obama pics from rally
Members of Gov. Jon Corzine’s (D-N.J.) campaign staff tweeted images of the incumbent appearing on stage at a rally with President Barack Obama.
They tweeted Thursday afternoon:
Corzine, who currently trails Republican challenger Chris Christie, enlisted Obama’s help to boost his support among his state’s voters. Polls show that Corzine was gradually making up ground on Christie before the rally, narrowing his lead to seven points from 11 at the end of June.
Republicans have targeted gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia this year to demonstrate the party could stage a comeback in the northeast.
Corzine’s campaign is heavily promoting his appearance with Obama, who carried New Jersey by a 57-42 margin in the 2008 presidential election. Obama’s appearance indicates that national Democrats are serious about stopping any Republican momentum before it starts.
Christie’s campaign countered Obama’s appearance with a spare web video on Wednesday.
