UPDATED Blunt announces 2Q fundraising numbers on Twitter, raised $1.44 million

Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) released his second quarter fundraising numbers on Twitter today, announcing his Senate campaign had raised $1.44 million:

As promised, I wanted to share some news with you first.

Our campaign far exceeded our $1 million goal and with the help of many of you we raised $1.44 million between April and June.

The positive response to our campaign has been truly outstanding and this is another blast of momentum for our campaign.

Blunt did, in fact, say that he would announce his fundraising numbers on Twitter first on Monday.

The Missouri Republican, who is running to take an open Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Kit Bond (R), still faces a GOP primary. Should he win the primary he will face Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) in the general election.

Carnahan has not released her second quarter figures, but reports have indicated that she also raised over $1 million.

UPDATED {2:02pm]: Dave Catanese, political reporter at NBC’s Springfield, Missouri affiliate KY3, is reporting that Blunt outraised Carnahan. Carnahan reportedly raised just over $1 million.
