Paul Ryan moving family to Washington

Former GOP Speaker Paul Ryan and his family are moving from Wisconsin to a suburb of Washington, D.C. 

Ryan, who hails from Janesville, Wis., and his family will temporarily rent a house in Maryland while still spending time in their home state, an aide told Politico. Ryan’s hometown residence isn’t being sold, according to Politico.

The move will bring Ryan, who retired from Congress last year, and his family closer to his wife’s family, which lives near the nation’s capital, the news outlet noted.

{mosads}During his two decades on Capitol Hill, Ryan said he commuted back and forth from Wisconsin to D.C. every week and didn’t live in Washington. He was known for being one of several lawmakers to sleep in their offices and did so during his time as Speaker.

Ryan retired a little more than three years after becoming Speaker and has since started the nonprofit American Idea Foundation, which will still be based in his hometown, Politico noted.

Ryan and President Trump clashed last month after the release of excerpts of Politico reporter Tim Alberta’s book “American Carnage,” in which Ryan said Trump “didn’t know anything about government.”

Trump quickly fired back, tweeting that Ryan had an “atrocious” record of achievement with “poor leadership and bad timing,” becoming a “lame duck failure.”
