Job Moves

Rep. Kline announces new Republicans for subcommittees: Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.) announced new Republicans for two of the Education and Labor Committee’s five subcommittees. They include Rep. Tom Price (Ga.), an orthopedic surgeon, as ranking Republican on the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions subcommittee, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), a working mother balancing work and family, as ranking Republican on the Workforce Protections subcommittee. Price and McMorris Rodgers join three other subcommittee ranking members including: Rep. Mike Castle (Del.) of the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education subcommittee, Rep. Todd Platts (R-Pa.) of the Healthy Families and Communities subcommittee and Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) of the Higher Education, Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness subcommittee.

{mosads}Rep. Markey’s telecommunications policy adviser leaves after over 20 years:
Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) has announced that Colin Cromwell, his telecommunications policy adviser for over 20 years, will now become senior counselor to the incoming chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski.

New Senate Staffers

There are six new hires for the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Democratic staff. They include:

Linda Lance:  Lance was most recently vice president for public policy at the Wilderness Society and has a policy background in wildland protection, sustainable energy and climate and public lands management. She also served as an adviser to former vice president Al Gore.

Tanya Trujillo: The committee’s new counsel on water, Trujillo is New Mexican and recently was general counsel to the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, working on water disputes, settlement agreements, infrastructure projects and the like.

Sara Tucker:  The Pennsylvanian brings expertise with public lands issues as former director of government affairs at Trout Unlimited. She also has worked for Earthjustice and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Ryan Martel: Martel recently completed a master of public policy at Georgetown. His earlier work experience has been on carbon capture and sequestration, electricity transmission and the domestic voluntary carbon offset market.

{mosads}Allison Seyferth:  Seyferth manages the committee’s front office. She graduated cum laude from Williams College and has interest in climate policy. A Vermont native, Seyferth is a Nordic skier and also makes her own maple syrup.

Richard Coaxum:  Coaxum is a summer hire, and helps Seyferth in the front office. He will be a senior at DeMatha Catholic High School in the fall. He enjoys music, engineering, psychology and church volunteerism.
