Poll: Democrats hold 4-point lead on generic 2020 congressional ballot

Democrats hold a 4-point lead on a generic 2020 congressional ballot, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released Tuesday.

The survey found 42 percent of respondents said they would vote for a Democratic candidate if  elections were held today, compared to 38 percent who chose the Republican candidate, 3 percent who would not vote and 17 percent with no opinion.

{mosads}The poll also found respondents trusted Republicans in Congress more than Democrats to handle the economy, 43 to 35 percent, as well as jobs, 43 to 36 percent, and immigration, 41 to 39 percent.

Democrats were more trusted on health care, 45 to 34 percent, as well as environmental issues, 48 to 27 percent, and education, 45 to 32 percent, according to the poll.

The poll was conducted July 25-27 among 1,994 registered voters and has a 2-point margin of error.
