George Conway opposes #unfollowTrump movement
Frequent Trump critic George Conway, husband to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, on Monday came out against his fellow Trump detractors’ movement to unfollow the president on Twitter.
wrong—the correct approach is to bait him into endlessly doubling down, which he will https://t.co/TduClgE3SZ

{mosads}Critics of President Trump began using the hashtag #unfollowTrump Monday morning after Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said he would no longer subscribe to Trump’s “hate-filled, racist, and demeaning” feed following the president’s attacks on multiple lawmakers of color.
“Yesterday morning, I just decided I had had enough of starting my days with this kind of racist, hateful, demeaning negativity,” Murphy told MSNBC. “Obviously I’m in this business and I’m in the United States Senate to try and stop his hateful agenda from moving into law.”
Social media users began to follow suit, using the hashtag #unfollowTrump to say they would unsubscribe.
I applaud those who #UnfollowTrump. His Twitter feed is filled with hate & lies. And @realDonaldTrump has no sense of humor so his tweets are repetitive & boring.
My public service announcement is the following: I will read Trump’s tweets so you don’t have to. #MondayMotivation https://t.co/4gdqyr51mP

The move was prompted by Trump’s Saturday attack on House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and the congressman’s home city of Baltimore. Trump called Cummings a “brutal bully” and said his district is a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”
“His district is considered the Worst in the USA as proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded,” Trump tweeted. “If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
Democrats have decried Trump’s tweets as being “racist,” which the president has denied.
“There is nothing racist in stating plainly what most people already know, that Elijah Cummings has done a terrible job for the people of his district, and of Baltimore itself,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “Dems always play the race card when they are unable to win with facts. Shame!”
The attacks on Cummings follow Trump’s slams earlier this month on members of “the squad,” a group of four progressive freshman lawmakers, all of whom are minority women.
