Merkel says she ‘can carry out’ her role after public shaking incidents
After being seen shaking in public on multiple occasions in recent weeks, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday that she is fit to discharge her duties.
“I can carry out this role,” Merkel said at a Berlin press conference, according to Reuters. “As a person, I have a strong personal interest in my health and, as I said, 2021 is the conclusion of my political work.”

Merkel also said during the conference that she was feeling “good.”
Earlier this month, Merkel was seen shaking for the third time within several weeks at an event with Finland’s prime minister.
She told reporters after that incident that she was “well” but still recovering from a previous shaking incident at a June event with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
