Schwarzenegger: legislature ‘running drills’ on budget
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Calif.) accused California legislators of “running drills” on urgent budget measures before they failed to ratify the legislation late last night.
He tweeted:
It’s almost 10 and they r still running drills upstairs. Trying 2 pass the same bills I vetoed hours ago. We need 2 solve entire deficit.
The emergency budget provisions were designed to designate $3.3 billion budget cuts before midnight when the new fiscal year began. The deeply indebted state has been unable to pay its bills and now must write IOUs to certain creditors, the Los Angeles Times reported late last night.
