Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said on Sunday that it was “wrong” for former Attorney General Bill Barr (R) to suggest that voting for President Biden would amount to “national suicide.”

“I know, he’s absolutely wrong,” Cheney said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Now I haven’t endorsed anybody in this presidential race, certainly would never support Donald Trump. And we know what Donald Trump will do, because he’s telling us every day and anybody who has spent any time overseas, who has spent any time studying history of autocracies, and of autocrats knows we have to listen to what Donald Trump saying.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Cheney about recent remarks made by Barr who said last week, “Voting for Trump is playing Russian roulette with the country. Voting for Biden is outright national suicide.” Cheney pushed back on the comments and maintained that she would not support Trump.

“So electing Donald Trump’s not Russian roulette electing Donald Trump would mean putting in power a man who’s committed to unraveling our constitutional framework. So Bill Barr is just wrong on that,” she added.

Tapper also asked Cheney if she is still deciding on whether to make a run for the White House. She also declined to say whether she would support Biden if November’s election ends up being a 2020 rematch.

“I haven’t made any decisions about it yet and I’m gonna do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump,” she said.

“I’m not gonna make any announcements or endorsements this morning. But the most important thing is to defeat Donald Trump and I’ll do whatever whatever it takes to do that,” she added.

Cheney has previously kept the door open to potentially launching a third-party bid for the presidency, but has not made any public decisions on it yet. She has been critical of the former president especially since losing her bid for reelection after she led the select House committee on the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
