Palin visits troops overseas

Alaska governor Sarah Palin departed on a trip overseas to visit members of the Alaska National Guard.

She tweeted:

So humbling to see our troops over here making great sacrifices (their family sacrifices, too) for the cause for freedom. Please honor them

The AP reported that Palin would make the overseas trip, although she did not publicly disclose her destinations.

Palin was widely seen as a failure after she was earned the GOP vice presidential nomination last fall. Yet her stock as a 2012 presidential contender as risen over the past week as Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Gov. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) both admitted they had extramarital affairs. Both men were seen as potential GOP presidential nominees in 2012.
