Thompson endorses Simmons
Former Senator and 2008 presidential candidate Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) has endorsed Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) for Senate.
Simmons tweeted:
Honored to be endorsed by @fredthompson today: http://tr.im/pBKG
The link directs to Simmons’s official press release announcing the endorsement. Connecticut Republicans will choose between Simmons, former ambassador Tom Foley, and state Sen. Sam Caligiuri to face Sen. Chris Dodd (D) in 2010. Throughout his campaign, Simmons has utilized Twitter to aggressively promote fundraising. A typical Simmons tweet reads like:
Less than $1000 from our $60k goal to help retire Chris Dodd: http://tr.im/p4cE #flocktorob
Note that Simmons created his own trending topic “#flocktorob”
Last week, Twitter Room reported that the last poll conducted on the race showed Simmons leading Dodd by 16 points.
