Brennan fires back at ‘selfish’ Trump over Harry Reid criticism
Former CIA Director John Brennan on Monday called President Trump “selfish” after the president tore into former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
Brennan, a frequent critic of Trump, took issue with the president’s tweet accusing Reid of trying to “put a good spin on his failed career.”
{mosads}“You shame yourself & the Office of the Presidency every time you try to smear those who dedicate their lives to public service,” Brennan tweeted. “These elected officials, like so many others, have worked selflessly on behalf of their fellow citizens, something unfamiliar to one as selfish as you.”

Trump claimed in a tweet earlier Monday that Reid “got thrown out” of Congress, but Senate Democrats’ longtime leader did not seek reelection in 2016 after 30 years in the upper chamber.
“Former Senator Harry Reid (he got thrown out) is working hard to put a good spin on his failed career,” Trump wrote in a tweet. “He led through lies and deception, only to be replaced by another beauty, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. Some things just never change!”
Those comments seemingly came in response to Reid’s harsh criticism of Trump in an interview with CNN that was published Monday.
In that interview, Reid said he would welcome the return of former President George W. Bush and said he does not have anything positive to say about Trump.
“I just have trouble accepting him as a person, so, frankly, I don’t see anything he’s doing right,” Reid said.
Brennan, one of Trump’s harshest critics in the national security world, had his security clearance revoked by the president last year in what was widely seen as retaliation for his critical comments of the president.
