Trump dubs Kim Kardashian ‘most overrated celebrity’

Former President Trump labeled Kim Kardashian the “most overrated celebrity” in his latest social media post fuming over a newly released book released about the former president.

Trump took aim at ABC’s Jonathan Karl’s book, “Tired of Winning,” for saying that the former president asked the reality TV star to use her celebrity status to get football players to come to the White House after she urged Trump to grant more prison commutations. He said that the episode recounted in the book was inaccurate, suggesting that he did not need Kardashian’s aid to get football players in the Oval Office.

“In the ‘book’ he has the World’s most overrated celebrity, Kim Kardashian, supposedly telling me that she ‘would leverage her celebrity to get football stars to come to the White House,’ if I would commute the sentences of various prisoners. This story is Fake News in that she would be the last person I asked to get football players,” Trump wrote in a Wednesday Truth Social post.

Kardashian met with Trump in the Oval Office in 2018 to discuss prison reform and sentencing, and to advocate for the pardoning of Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence on nonviolent drug and money laundering charges. Days after the meeting, the former president granted clemency to Johnson.

However, Karl’s book later described an episode where Kardashian would ask Trump for additional commutations. 

“A source familiar with the conversations tells me Trump listened to her requests and demanded a straight-up quid pro quo,” Karl said in his book.

“[Trump] would grant the commutations, he told Kardashian, if she leveraged her celebrity connections to get football stars who were friends of hers to come visit him at the White House.”

In his latest Truth Social post, Trump pointed to athletes and professional sports teams he had over at the White House during his time in office. He also said that he helped end prison sentences, but suggested he did them more for Kanye West, Kardashian’s husband at the time, than her.

“I did help with prisoner commutation, but only if deserving, and much more so for Kanye West than for Kim, who probably voted for Crooked Joe Biden, and look at the mess our Country is in now. Many other false stories in Karl’s very boring book, but nothing worth mentioning!” he added.
