Trump tweets video mocking Dems not cheering during State of the Union
President Trump on Friday tweeted out a satirical video mocking prominent Democrats, as well as Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), for not standing up and applauding him during his State of the Union address.
The video cuts between close-ups of well-known Democrats, Trump’s entrance, and parts of his speech, while R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” plays in the background. The Democrats, including 2020 hopefuls Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Kamala Harris (Calif.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) and Cory Booker (N.J.), look deeply displeased by the president’s remarks.

{mosads}The video also features Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), as well as Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff (Calif.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.). They, too, look universally unhappy with the president.
In Romney’s close up, he is applauding, but not standing.
The Twitter handle @Carpedonktum appears in the video’s bottom-right corner. The owner of that account self-describes as an “Eternally Sarcastic Memesmith specializing in the creation of Images and Videos” in the account bio and creates memes in support of Trump.
Trump delivered his second State of the Union address earlier this month.
