White House holds press briefing: Watch live

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is set to deliver the daily press briefing Thursday afternoon. She will be joined by national security spokesperson John Kirby.

President Biden hosted a bilateral meeting today with President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic and will hold another meeting with President Gabriel Boric of Chile.

The briefing also comes as Biden faces mounting discontent from progressives over his response to the Israel-Hamas war. The president was confronted Wednesday evening by a protestor calling for a cease-fire at a campaign event. “I think we need a pause. A pause means give time to get the prisoners out,” the president responded.

The event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EDT.
