As the Trump administration’s ambassador to the U.N., Haley played a key role in the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement. Her campaign has said she would withdraw again if elected.

A spokesman for Haley’s campaign said Haley “believes that when it comes to climate change, capitalism and economic freedom aren’t the problem — they’re the solution.”

A 2020 video from Haley’s Stand for America group said “man-made climate change is real, but liberal ideas would cost trillions and destroy our economy.”

Haley has said she’d sign a federal abortion ban if she wins the 2024 race, but she said such a ban would be difficult to get off the ground. A spokesperson for her campaign said she’s focused on finding “national consensus on a host of pro-life positions, like banning late-term abortion.”

Haley has been criticized by Democrats for opposing efforts as governor to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

Haley has called for “mental competency tests” for politicians aged 75 and older. Both Trump and President Biden, the 2024 front-runners of their respective parties, are above that threshold.

Haley’s campaign touts her efforts as governor to make South Carolina’s economy “the Beast of the Southeast.”

As the country dealt with debt limit woes earlier this year, Haley wrote in a USA Today op-ed that “both Democrats and Republicans are responsible for America’s spending crisis,” arguing the nation needs a president to “stand up to the big spenders in both parties.”

Haley has knocked China as an economic and national security threat. She said in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that she’d “push American businesses to leave China as completely as possible.”

Haley’s campaign touts her experience as a United Nations ambassador and her position as a supporter of Israel. As ambassador, she pushed for the U.S. to withdraw from UNESCO and the U.N. Human Rights Council, which she called “a cesspool of political bias.”

Her first TV ad of the 2024 cycle underscored her tough stance on “Communist China,” which she said “will end up on the ash heap of history.”

The former U.N. ambassador played a role in the Trump administration’s withdrawal of the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal, which she said had “many flaws.”
