White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is delivering a daily press briefing Wednesday afternoon.

The update follows the announcement from President Biden that an additional $9 billion in student loan debt will be canceled, bringing the total forgiven since Biden took office to $127 billion. That figure, however, still falls far short of a proposal for $10,000 in relief per borrower Biden had suggested as a candidate.

Those affected by the latest action include many who previously qualified but never received official approval. Most borrowers, whose payment plans have just restarted, won’t see relief from the new policy.

The briefing is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
