Second Giuliani lawyer pushes to leave Georgia legal team

A second attorney representing Rudy Giuliani in the Fulton County, Ga., 2020 election subversion case is seeking to depart his legal team.

Brian Tevis told The Hill that he has filed a motion to withdraw from the case. The motion must be accepted by the judge.

Tevis’s departure would leave Giuliani without any local counsel in the case, where he is charged with racketeering alongside former President Trump and 17 others. Giuliani pleaded not guilty.

The development was first reported by ABC News.

David Wolfe, another Georgia-based attorney who had represented Giuliani, moved to withdraw from the case last week. The judge accepted the withdrawal Tuesday.

Giuliani’s only remaining attorney formally representing him in the case is David Esposito, a New York-based lawyer. Tevis had served as local sponsor, so Esposito could represent Giuliani in Georgia.

Giuliani, the former New York City mayor-turned-Trump attorney, has appeared to face a cash crunch as he faces the criminal charges and several civil lawsuits.

His ex-lawyers sued him last month for nearly $1.4 million in alleged outstanding legal bills. 

In a defamation case brought by Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the duo revealed in court filings last month that Giuliani had not paid sanctions as required by the court.

Giuliani has also taken to representing himself in a lawsuit brought by a Staten Island grocery store worker, court filings show.
