Freeway in Los Angeles renamed ‘President Barack H. Obama Highway’

Signs renaming a stretch of a freeway based in Los Angeles after former President Barack Obama have been installed.

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that the signs renaming the freeway as the President Barack H. Obama Highway had been installed throughout a section of State Route 134 that runs from the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles to Interstate 210 in Pasadena.

Obama went to Occidental College in Eagle Rock in the 1970s and also previously resided in Pasadena, according to the news agency.

{mosads}The move to rename the section of the highway was authorized by California state Sen. Anthony J. Portantino last year after having won bipartisan support for the legislation.

State lawmakers gave the effort their final approval earlier this year, according to local station KTLA.

Portantino shared a photo of one of the signs installed on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
