Watch live: White House press briefing
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday will be joined by Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.) to hold a press briefing.
The Biden administration announced this week that it is creating an office of gun violence prevention to find additional actions President Biden can take to curb gun violence, as well as to implement existing actions.
The announcement comes after gun violence prevention advocates and Democratic lawmakers have been pushing the White House to establish a designated office solely focused on gun violence. Biden and Vice President Harris will launch the new office at a Friday event at the White House, alongside members of Congress, mayors and gun violence survivors.
The press briefing is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.
