Former Trump aide: President has ‘thick skin’
A former campaign aide to President Trump who’s now a CNN contributor earned pushback during a panel discussion on Sunday when he said the president “has pretty thick skin.”
CNN host Jake Tapper and other contributors on the panel interrupted when David Urban said, “I’m sure the president knows that people say bad things about him. He’s got pretty thick skin.”
“The thinnest skin I’ve ever seen,” objected Symone Sanders, former press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) 2016 presidential campaign.
{mosads}”He’s a tough guy, he can take it,” Urban maintained, despite the outburst during the panel discussion of Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s choice to be his acting White House chief of staff.
Comments Mulvaney made during the presidential campaign in 2016 have resurfaced since Trump’s Friday announcement about Mulvaney, including one clip in which the former congressman said he supported Trump despite the fact that he’s “a terrible human being.”
Urban, who worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign as an adviser, dismissed the idea that Trump hasn’t seen the negative comments from Mulvaney.
