Trump administration adds multiple Cuban tourist attractions to sanctions list

The Trump administration on Wednesday added several Cuban tourist attractions to its list of places Americans cannot visit.

The State Department statement says that the 26 places added to the list, including 16 hotels, contain “entities and subentities controlled by the Cuban military, intelligence, and security services or personnel.”

{mosads}Under President Trump, the U.S. has tightened sanctions on Cuba that have been in place for over 50 years, but were loosened slightly under former President Obama. 

That policy move appears to have reduced Cuba’s income from tourism.

National security adviser John Bolton dubbed Cuba, as well as Venezuela and Nicaragua, the “Troika of Tyranny,” earlier this month.

Although tourists are barred from visiting several places, travel to the island is still legal.
