Authorities on Wednesday night found a suspicious package addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) in a Los Angeles mail facility.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in a statement said the package is similar to others mailed to high-level Democratic figures earlier Wednesday. The other packages contained explosives, none of which detonated.

Authorities have so far confirmed that five of the intercepted packages contained devices described as crude pipe bombs.

The ATF’s Los Angeles field division and Los Angeles Police Department are investigating the package found in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening.

{mosads}”We are working closely with our federal law enforcement partners given the number of suspicious devices discovered across the nation,” the LAPD tweeted.

The FBI a few hours later confirmed that it had confirmed “two additional packages, both addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters.”

“We have now confirmed two additional packages, both addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters, that are similar in appearance,” the bureau wrote.

Police intercepted another package addressed to Waters at a congressional mail facility in Maryland earlier that day.

Waters issued a statement following the first incident in which she praised law enforcement for intercepting the package and condemned “any and all acts of violence and terror.”

“I have been informed by U.S. Capitol Police that my Washington, DC office was the target of a suspicious package that has been referred to the FBI,” Waters wrote in the statement. “I am appreciative of the law enforcement entities who intercepted the package and are investigating this matter. I unequivocally condemn any and all acts of violence and terror.”

Explosives were sent to the homes of the Clintons and the Obamas. Another suspicious package containing explosives was sent to CNN’s New York City offices addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan.
