Avenatti blasts Trump as a ‘moron,’ challenges him to debate over Kavanaugh sexual assault accusations

Michael Avenatti on Wednesday blasted President Trump as a “moron” and accused him of trying to divert attention away from the woman who most recently accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

{mosads}”Trump is a moron,” Avenatti, an attorney representing the woman accusing Kavanaugh, tweeted. “He knows nothing about me or my client. He is trying to divert attention away from Julie as a smokescreen.

“I challenge him to debate me regarding Kavanaugh and his accusers and our respective backgrounds. He will never agree because he is a coward and weak.”

Avenatti, who is also representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels in her case against the president and his former lawyer, added in a subsequent tweet that he is “thoroughly enjoying living rent free” in the president’s head.

His tweet came just moments after Trump continued to raise doubts about sexual misconduct accusations against Kavanaugh during remarks at a freewheeling press conference

Among other things, Trump claimed that his critics would accuse a woman of sexual assault if he were to nominate a female replacement for Kavanaugh.

Avenatti shared a sworn declaration from Julie Swetnick, the woman he is representing in her accusations against Kavanaugh, on Twitter earlier Wednesday. In the statement, Swetnick accused Kavanaugh of being present at a party in the early 1980s in which she says she was drugged and “gang rape[d].”

Swetnick said Kavanaugh never physically attacked her, but she alleged that he was at the party where she was drugged with “Quaaludes or something similar” and attacked. Swetnick also alleges that she “witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be ‘gang raped’ in a side room or bedroom by a ‘train’ of numerous boys.”

Kavanaugh denied the claims, saying they were “from the Twilight Zone” in a statement on Wednesday. He has also denied claims of sexual misconduct from two other women, Deborah Ramirez and Christine Blasey Ford.

Trump weighed in on the latest allegations Wednesday afternoon, calling Avenatti a “third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations.”

Avenatti responded by calling Trump a “habitual liar and complete narcissist.”

Kavanaugh and Ford are set to testify on Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding Ford’s claims that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the 1980s.

Avenatti has called for an FBI investigation into Swetnick’s allegations.
