Armstrong Williams, who advised Justice Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings, said on Monday that Anita Hill and Christine Blasey Ford are being used for political reasons and are victims of a political war.
“It is not Kavanaugh that is on trial here. It is the women that are making these allegations,” Williams, who advised Thomas when Hill made allegations against the then-Supreme Court nominee, told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”
“Anita Hill was used. Blasey Ford is being used. They’re just pawns. There is no fund in place for victims of political war. They are both victims of political war. It’s unfortunate, and I’m sure this is why Blasey Ford is really taking her time,” he continued.
The remarks from Williams come after The New Yorker reported on Sunday that Senate Democrats were looking into a new allegation of sexual misconduct regarding Kavanaugh dating back to his freshman year at Yale University in the 1980s.
Deborah Ramirez said Kavanaugh exposed himself in front of her during a gathering at the university. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.
The second allegation came roughly a week after Ford went public with allegations against Kavanaugh, claiming that he forced himself on her during a high school party in the 1982.
He and Ford are slated to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.
