Oakland Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch sits during national anthem

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat down during the national anthem before the team’s season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

Lynch was reportedly the only player from either the Rams or the Raiders to demonstrate during the anthem before Monday night’s game.

Three Miami Dolphins players protested before their season opener against Tennessee on Sunday night.

There were no visible demonstrations by NFL players during “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the NFL season opener between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.

The NFL reportedly won’t implement a new policy this season on players standing for the national anthem after originally voting to implement a controversial policy that required players “to stand and show respect” during the song.

The league froze the policy after a legal challenge from the players’ union.

Lynch played in the game for the Raiders and scored a touchdown shortly after the start of the game.

The Associated Press noted that Lynch sat down during “The Star-Spangled Banner” all of last season but has never given a reason for doing so.

President Trump slammed the athlete last year and called for the NFL to suspend him the next time he did not stand for the national anthem.

“Marshawn Lynch of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem. Great disrespect!” Trump wrote on Twitter in November.
