U.S. Capitol Police arrested 73 individuals on Wednesday in association with protests surrounding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.

In a statement late Wednesday, Capitol Police said 66 people were charged with disorderly conduct for actions in the committee room in Hart Senate Office Building, where the hearing is taking place.

Another six individuals were arrested for “unlawful demonstration activities” in the Russell Senate Office Building and charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding, officials said.

{mosads}One person was also arrested in the Hart atrium and charged with the same crime, in addition to resisting arrest.

Wednesday’s charges marked a slight uptick from the first day of the Kavanaugh hearings, when police arrested 70 individuals.

Protesters have periodically spoken out during the hearing, urging senators to vote “no” on Kavanaugh’s nomination and raising concerns about abortion rights and health care. The arrested protesters on Tuesday included a Hollywood star, Piper Perabo of the former USA show “Covert Affairs.”

The hearings will continue for a third day on Thursday, when additional protests are expected.
