Activist arrested for Statue of Liberty protest wears ‘Be Best’ dress to court

The activist arrested for climbing on the State of Liberty to protest President Trump’s immigration policies needled first lady Melania Trump by wearing a dress to court in the style of her “I don’t really care” jacket, as well as mocking her “Be Best” campaign.

Patricia Okoumou appeared in court on Friday wearing a green dress that read “I really care, why won’t u?” and “Be best,” The New York Daily News reported.

The dress is a jab at the controversial cargo jacket the first lady wore to visit migrant children separated from their parents at a Texas detention center in June.

And “Be Best” is the name of Trump’s kindness awareness campaign for children.

{mosads}“Let us teach our children the difference between right and wrong, and encourage them to Be Best in their individual paths in life,” the first lady said in announcing the campaign in May.

Okoumou, 44, was arrested on the Fourth of July for allegedly attempting to scale the 150-foot-tall Statue of Liberty to protest the Trump administration’s now-rescinded policy of separating migrant families who crossed the southern border illegally.

She has been charged with trespassing, interference with agency functions and disorderly conduct, The Daily News reported.

President Trump called her a “clown” during a campaign rally in Montana last month.
