NRATV host equates gun restrictions to media censorship

In a new video released by NRATV Thursday, host Colion Noir equates demands for new gun control legislation to censoring press freedom.

Noir, in the approximately four-minute video, seemingly criticizes the media for “glorifying” shooters in news coverage, calling for Congress to regulate media coverage of school shootings.

{mosads}“It’s time to put an end to this glorification of carnage and pursuit of ratings because it is killing our kids,” Noir said in the video. “It’s time for Congress to step up and pass legislation putting commonsense limitations on our mainstream media’s ability to report on these school shootings.”

The host called for a law that would stop the media from reporting the shooter’s name or showing their face.

“You can still report on the shootings, we just need reasonable laws that place limitation on the glory and fame you give to these killers and their twisted motivations,” he said.

Noir then goes on to reveal that the calls to censor media coverage of shooters was a setup.

“You know that feeling of anxiety that shot through your body when I said the government should pass laws to limit the media’s ability to exercise their First Amendment right?” Noir asked. “That’s the same feeling gun owners get when they hear people say the same thing about the Second Amendment.”

“Hearing me advocate for the government’s ability to limit anyone’s First Amendment rights, including the media, should anger all of you watching this video,” Noir continued. “The same way it should anger you when anyone tries to place limitations on the Second Amendment.”

Ignoring shooters will do more to stop school shootings then any gun control measure ever will, Noir concluded.

Still, Noir said he disagrees with government infringement on anyone’s First or Second Amendment rights.

The comments come a week after a shooter opened fire in a Santa Fe, Texas, high school, killing 10 people.

Noir has frequently bashed the media’s coverage of mass shootings.
