Three bombs exploded at churches in Surabaya, Indonesia, on Saturday, leaving at least two people dead, according to media reports.

One bomb detonated at the city’s Santa Maria Church, another exploded at the Diponegoro Christian Church and a third at Surabaya Centre Pentacostal Church, The Straits Times reported.

Citing East Java Police, Agence France-Presse reported that the three explosions happened within 10 minutes of each other. One person died at the scene of an explosion, and another died after being taken to a hospital, AFP reported.

Another 13 people are being treated for injuries, according to AFP.

Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world, but also has sizable numbers of Christians, Hindus and Buddhists. Human rights groups, however, have raised concerns in recent years over rising religious intolerance.

In 2016, Jakarta-based Setara Institute, which monitors religious freedom in Indonesia, reported a significant increase in acts of religious intolerance and religious freedom violations.
