‘Fox & Friends’ host mocks NYT for not covering story it reported

“Fox & Friends” co-host Pete Hegseth swatted the “failing New York Times” on Friday morning for supposedly not covering a story that media observers noted the newspaper was among the first to report.

“I looked for the five ISIS leaders captured in the failing New York Times,” Hegseth said while flipping through the newspaper on-air. “And in the print edition today, I have not seen it yet.”

“I’ll keep looking,” he told the other co-hosts.

Borrowing the president’s favorite nickname for the newspaper, Hegseth was trying to make a point that The Times was not reporting on successes for the Trump administration.

Media observers noted that Hegseth could not find the story because the newspaper broke the story online two days earlier, on Wednesday, and it was then featured in the paper’s print edition Thursday.

Trump had also tweeted about the capture on Thursday:

Officials announced this week that five senior members of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were captured as part of a three-month-long U.S.-Iraqi intelligence operation.
