Trump: I’m not obstructing justice, I’m ‘fighting back’

President Trump on Monday criticized the suggestion that he has obstructed justice in the Russia investigation, saying he is simply “fighting back.”

“The Russia Witch Hunt is rapidly losing credibility. House Intelligence Committee found No Collusion, Coordination or anything else with Russia,” the president wrote on Twitter.

“So now the Probe says OK, what else is there? How about Obstruction for a made up, phony crime. There is no O, it’s called Fighting Back.”

Trump’s tweet comes after a federal judge last week pushed back against prosecutors handling former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s case.

“You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud,” U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III reportedly said in a Friday hearing.

“You really care about getting information Mr. Manafort can give you that would reflect on Mr. Trump and lead to his prosecution or impeachment.

“That’s what you’re really interested in.”

Trump has repeatedly referred to the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and any potential ties between Trump campaign staff members and the Kremlin as a “witch hunt.”

“The 13 Angry Democrats in charge of the Russian Witch Hunt are starting to find out that there is a Court System in place that actually protects people from injustice…and just wait ‘till the Courts get to see your unrevealed Conflicts of Interest!” Trump added Monday.

Special counsel Robert Mueller and his team have for the last year been conducting the investigation, in addition to several separate congressional panels heading up their own probes.
