House Oversight Committee to interview Pruitt’s head of security: report

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to interview the head of security for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt on Wednesday, ABC News reported.

Pasquale “Nino” Perrotta currently leads Pruitt’s million-dollar 24-hour security detail, which is currently under investigation by Congress and ethics officials. 

Perrotta is reportedly responsible for the expansion of Pruitt’s security detail, and approved the director’s costly and controversial first-class travel.

The former Secret Service agent also allegedly orchestrated the installation of a $43,000 soundproof booth in Pruitt’s office that was deemed illegal by the Government Accountability Office. 

Politico reported last month that Perrotta vetoed concerns from EPA staffers that Pruitt’s spending practices were inappropriate.

An EPA spokesman did not respond to request for comment from ABC News.

However, Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) confirmed on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” that interviews were being scheduled with Perrotta and other top Pruitt aides.
