Trump dines with Oracle exec and Peter Thiel
President Trump is reportedly set to have dinner on Tuesday night with Oracle Corp. co-CEO Safra Catz and venture capitalist Peter Thiel.
The dinner plans, reported by Bloomberg News, come as Oracle is competing with Amazon for a multibillion-dollar contract to provide cloud computing services to the Pentagon.
Lawmakers and Amazon competitors, including Oracle, have voiced concerns about the potential multiyear contract. Amazon controls a significant portion of the cloud computing market.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Amazon in recent days, saying the tech giant has taken advantage of the U.S. Postal Service and has failed to collect sales taxes on products it sells to consumers in states with such taxes.
Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal, has been a vocal supporter of Trump. He touted the real estate mogul’s nomination at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and later became a high-dollar donor to Trump’s campaign.
