Virginia police arrested a man on Friday they said had made death threats against his congressman, Rep. Scott Taylor (R).

Virginia Beach resident Wallace Grove Godwin, 69, reportedly threatened Taylor, a former Navy SEAL, as well as two staffers during a visit to the congressman’s local office after a heated discussion on marijuana policy.

{mosads}“Scott is having an event this Saturday. I am going to get my shotgun and do something about this. I will just handle this myself,” Godwin allegedly said Thursday to a staff member, telling others, “You two are next.”

The aggression wasn’t a first for Godwin, the U.S. attorney’s office said in a Friday statement. Last year, he allegedly yelled at staffers in Taylor’s Virginia Beach office and also confronted Taylor personally outside the congressman’s home.

Godwin, who was charged with threatening murder and assault on a U.S. official, could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
